Ms. Katie Corrigan earned her master’s degree (M.A.) in Counseling and Psychology from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Previous to this pursuit, she earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Arts and Literature from St. Cloud State University and a master’s degree in Literacy from Hamline University. Before coming to Murphy Psychological Services she spent thirteen years working as an English teacher to both middle school and high school students.
The individualized approach Katie took in teaching is the same she takes as a mental health professional, as she recognizes each person has unique needs. In practice, she leans into CBT, ACT, EMDR, ERP, and strengths-based approaches. In guiding clients through the processing of their own feelings, thoughts, and behaviors, she strives for each client to experience a cognitive shift that will lead to healthier decision making and less emotional distress. Along with attending training regarding suicide prevention and grassroots responses to healing and social justice, she is fully trained in EMDR.
In her down time, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, doing puzzles, and traveling.
Katie is a pre-licensed clinician. She is currently working under the license of supervisor Dr. Rebecca Murphy.
