- Chaarissa Romero (she/her) obtained her master’s degree (M.A.) in Counseling and Psychology from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Before this pursuit, she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of Saint Benedict. Prior to arriving at Murphy Psychological Services, Chaarissa spent nine years working in various mental health settings. These settings include a children’s residential treatment center, as a children’s mental health case manager at a community agency, and suicide prevention with children and adults. One of Chaarissa's specialty areas is treating Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT).
Chaarissa is Latina and coming from a bicultural background, she recognizes everyone’s unique experiences. Chaarissa works to provide a safe, humorous (when appropriate), and collaborative space for clients.
In her free time, Chaarissa enjoys playing soccer, spending time with her dog (Oso, means bear), and traveling.
Chaarissa is a pre-licensed clinician and is working under the supervision of Dr. Rebecca Murphy.
